Ghost of Yotei is Sucker Punch's follow-up to the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, and it's every bit the epic you'd hope for. Set in 1603 Japan during the Edo period, you play as Atsu, a new protagonist with her own compelling story woven through Hokkaido's stunning landscapes. The game is absolutely gorgeous — the art direction, character models, and environmental detail are genuinely impressive even by PS5 standards.
What makes this sequel special is how it builds on the original's foundation. Combat feels more refined, with new stances and abilities that reward learning the system. The open world is explorable without feeling bloated, side quests actually matter, and the main story kept me engaged throughout. The duelling and standoff moments are genuinely tense — there's real weight to encounters.
It's ideal for players who loved the first game or anyone after a substantial, beautiful action-adventure. Fair warning though: if you're after fast-paced combat like Devil May Cry, this slower, more methodical approach won't suit you. Some might find the pacing deliberate rather than thrilling. Performance-wise, it runs solidly on PS5, though like many ambitious titles, you'll notice occasional frame drops in busy areas.
At £33.32, this is excellent value. You're getting 40+ hours of quality content with production values that justify the original £58 asking price. Whether you're a series veteran or newcomer, this is genuinely worth your time and money at this discount.
