The Tapo RV30 Max Plus is a solid mid-range robot vacuum that punches well above its discounted price. Let me break down what you're actually getting here: a 5300Pa suction robot with integrated mopping, LiDAR-based navigation, intelligent mapping, and a self-emptying station. For most households, that's a complete cleaning solution.
What impressed me most was the navigation system. The combination of LiDAR and IMU sensors creates reliable room mapping without the chaotic random-bounce pattern of budget models. It knew exactly where it had been and avoided re-cleaning areas. Alexa and Google integration means voice control works seamlessly, and the app gives you reasonable customisation—no-go zones, room-specific settings, and scheduling.
The 5300Pa suction handles daily dust, pet hair, and debris on both hard floors and carpets reasonably well. It's not in the premium league of 6500Pa+ units, but for typical household soiling, it's perfectly adequate. The mopping function adds versatility, though it's more of a light damp-clean than a proper scrub—realistic expectations required.
Potential drawbacks: the dustbin is modest (around 300ml), meaning more frequent empties if you have heavy shedding. The base station takes up decent floor space. And whilst battery life is decent (110 minutes), larger homes might need a second run. Noise levels are acceptable but noticeable.
Who should buy this? Anyone wanting to skip manual vacuuming without spending £400+. Pet owners will appreciate the suction; flat-dwellers with mixed flooring will love the mop function. If you have an enormous house or thick carpets exclusively, consider stepping up.
At £149, this is exceptional value. It's a proper robot vacuum, not a budget toy pretending to be one. Absolutely worth it at this price.
