Review

The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9000 is one of those toothbrushes that punches above its weight in the mid-premium segment. What you're getting here is a proper sonic device with 62,000 brush strokes per minute, which is genuinely effective for plaque removal and gum health if you use it correctly.

The standout features justify the asking price. The pressure sensor actually works—it vibrates to warn you if you're brushing too hard, which matters more than people realise for gum protection. The app connectivity is genuinely useful rather than gimmicky; it tracks your brushing habits and offers coaching. Four brushing modes (Clean, White, Massage, and Gum Care) cover most needs, whilst the three intensity levels let you ease into it if you're new to sonic toothbrushes.

What genuinely impresses me is the build quality. The aluminium handle feels premium without being overweighty, and the battery lasts about three weeks per charge. The charging glass is a nice touch—it doubles as a rinse cup and keeps your bathroom tidier than a typical stand.

The dual pack pricing is where this gets clever. You're paying roughly £51 per brush, which is substantially cheaper than buying separately. Perfect if you're a couple sharing a bathroom or if you want one travel-ready.

A few caveats: the app requires Bluetooth, which seems unnecessary for a toothbrush but you can ignore it entirely. The replacement brush heads (DiamondClean heads) are priceier than generic alternatives. And if you've got serious gum disease, you might want professional advice before assuming a toothbrush fixes it.

At 38% off, this is genuinely worth considering. It's not the absolute cheapest sonic option, but it's substantially better value than full price, and the feature set justifies it.
