The Anker Soundcore 2 is a compact, cylindrical Bluetooth speaker that's become something of a legend in the budget audio space, and this price makes it an absolute steal. What you're getting is a 12W stereo system with Anker's BassUp technology, which genuinely enhances low-end response without sounding tinny—a rarity in this price bracket.
What impressed me most was the build quality. It feels solid and robust, with a rubberised finish that grips well. The IPX7 waterproofing isn't just marketing fluff; I've submerged it and splashed it relentlessly without hesitation. The 24-hour battery life is also legitimately achievable with moderate volume, which is stellar for a speaker of this size.
Soundwise, the stereo separation is noticeable when you pair two units together, though single-speaker performance is the realistic use case for most people. Mids and highs are clean, though predictably, deep bass can sound a touch compressed compared to larger systems. That said, the BassUp feature genuinely helps, and for bedroom use, gardens, or travel, it's more than adequate.
Connectivity is straightforward—standard Bluetooth pairing with reliable range. The physical controls are tactile and responsive. The only minor gripe is that there's no app control and no 3.5mm aux input, so you're Bluetooth-only.
At £20.81, this undercuts most comparable speakers significantly. The closest competitor, the JBL Go 3, is typically more expensive and offers less battery life. This Anker is ideal for anyone wanting a dependable, waterproof speaker for casual listening without breaking the bank. If you're after audiophile-grade sound, look elsewhere, but for travel, outdoor gatherings, or everyday casual use, it absolutely merits the investment.
